Community Sports Ground Tennis Coach

The All England Lawn Tennis Club, the home of The Championships, Wimbledon wishes to recruit a Community Sports Ground Tennis Coach to provide junior and adult coaching as part of the Community Programme based at The All England Club Community Sports Ground in Raynes Park.

The successful applicant will possess an up to date LTA coach licence (minimum level 3) with proven experience of junior tennis coaching, working in schools, with large groups and individuals.

We anticipate the role will require 1437 hours per annum with Monday, Thursday morning and Sunday afternoon as non working days although flexibility will be required to meet the demands of the role.  The successful candidate will commence in late August 2016.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will made of the successful candidate. This will be carried out on your behalf by the AELTC and a fully clear disclosure is the minimum requirement for employment.

Job Title:

Community Sports Ground Tennis Coach

Reports to:

WJTI Manager

Main Purpose of Job:

To work as a community coach at The All England Club Community Sports Ground in Raynes Park offering junior and adult coaching, schools work, social tennis in addition to weekend coaching for the WJTI

Main Responsibilties

  • Be a good ambassador for the AELTC
  • Junior and adult coaching
  • Holiday coaching/camps
  • Support the development of talent with good knowledge of the competitive structure and awareness of standards for all ages at weekend and Squad coaching
  • Provide social tennis opportunities for juniors and adults
  • Provide schools tennis sessions during term time
  • Assist with the WJTI Weekend Coaching sessions
  • Ensure the setting up of safe areas to play in for the various sessions
  • Comply with health and safety policies and procedures
  • Follow the Club’s Child Protection Policy and Guidelines

Person Specification

  • Up-to-date LTA coach licence (minimum level 3), including full, enhanced DBS disclosure the results of which are satisfactory to the Company
  • Work experience of junior tennis coaching, working in schools, with large groups and individuals
  • Enthusiasm for junior tennis development and able to pass on this enthusiasm to juniors; interest in working with all standards and abilities
  • Understanding of the tennis journey and why we play
  • Able to identify and develop junior talent
  • Able to encourage and support junior and adult players of all standards
  • A strong interest in developing the programme at the Sports Ground
  • Able to host junior and adult events
  • Good communication skills
  • Good personal presentation

Other Information

  • 1437 annual working hours
